Oracle Database Administrator Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in Oracle database administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of Oracle databases. This role requires a strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure the performance, integrity, and availability of our database systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Database Administration: Administer and maintain Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, user management, schema management, storage management, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.

  2. Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching to keep systems up-to-date and secure, while minimizing downtime and disruptions.

  3. Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure optimal performance and scalability.

  4. Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data against loss or corruption, and perform regular backups and restores as needed.

  5. Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  6. High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, and standby databases.

  7. Capacity Planning: Forecast future capacity requirements and plan database resources accordingly to support business growth and scalability.

  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and best practices, and generate reports on database performance and health.

  9. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams to troubleshoot issues, provide technical support, and ensure smooth operation of database systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle database architecture, internals, and features.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and work outside of regular business hours when necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
