Information Architect

We are seeking an experienced Information Architect to lead the restructuring of a large volume of SharePoint sites during a migration from an on-premises environment to SharePoint Online. The ideal candidate will design and implement a site structure and content architecture that aligns with modern SharePoint Online practices, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and usability.

Responsibilities:

• Content and Environment Discovery: Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing SharePoint on-premises sites to identify usage patterns, content, user requirements, and system configurations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and document findings to guide the architectural design.
• Target Site Structure and Content Architecture: Design a site structure and content architecture for SharePoint Online based on insights gathered during discovery.
• Propose and implement the Site Architecture leveraging SharePoint Online Modern Experience.
• Develop and establish an Information Architecture utilizing SharePoint Online Hub sites, ensuring seamless navigation and logical content organization.
• Migration Planning and Execution: Work closely with the migration team to develop a roadmap for transitioning content to SharePoint Online.
• Provide input on migration tools and strategies to ensure content integrity and compliance during the migration process.
• Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams, business units, and leadership to align the architecture with organizational goals.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions to familiarize users with the proposed SharePoint Online architecture.
• Governance and Best Practices: Define governance policies and practices for SharePoint Online, including access control, content lifecycle management, and metadata standards.
• Establish best practices for ongoing site management and user adoption.
• Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed documentation of the site structure, content architecture, and migration plans.
• Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders and address any architectural challenges.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of proven experience in Information Architecture, particularly with SharePoint (on-premises and Online).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline
• Strong understanding of SharePoint Online Modern Experience, Hub sites, and related tools.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing large-scale site and content architectures.
• Familiarity with migration tools and methodologies for SharePoint environments.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications in SharePoint or Information Architecture are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with metadata design and taxonomy development.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools and integrations.
