Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Supply Chain Inbound (SCIP) team, supporting continued innovation and operational excellence across warehouse operations. This role focuses on building and maintaining mission-critical integrations with Manhattan Active WMS, enabling efficient and reliable inbound processing across Nordstrom’s distribution center network.

This is an AI-first engineering role, where success is driven by your ability to leverage modern AI coding tools, communicate clearly, and consistently deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Java / Spring Boot integrations with Manhattan Active WMS

  • Configure Manhattan Active WMS to support warehouse operations and evolving business requirements

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality

  • Deploy, manage, and support services in Kubernetes environments

  • Develop automated tests and perform manual testing as needed

  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, responding to incidents and driving automation to reduce future operational toil

  • Collaborate with engineers, TPMs, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver projects

  • Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and proactive incident management

Qualifications

  • Experience using AI code generation tools, with demonstrated proficiency using Claude Code or GitHub Copilot (Claude Code strongly preferred)

  • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions, blockers, and progress

  • Proven ownership and reliable execution with a track record of delivering on commitments

  • Familiarity with containerized deployments and Kubernetes (preferred)

  • Experience with warehouse management systems, particularly Manhattan Active WMS, is a plus

  • Experience with supply chain or inventory systems is a plus

  • Experience with test automation frameworks (JUnit, integration testing) is a plus

  • Prior on-call and incident response experience is a plus

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
