Principal Power BI Engineer (Dynamics 365 F&O)

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Engineer with strong experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-grade Business Intelligence solutions.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, and cloud-based BI architecture, with proven experience integrating and reporting on Dynamics 365 F&O data. This role requires a balance of technical leadership, data engineering expertise, and stakeholder engagement to deliver scalable analytics solutions that support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards aligned with business and reporting requirements.
• Build and optimize BI solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Platform, and Power BI.
• Integrate and model data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) including finance, supply chain, procurement, and operations modules.
• Develop robust data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data transformation processes to support enterprise reporting.
• Optimize Power BI data models, queries, and refresh processes to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data connectivity, data refresh failures, gateway configurations, and performance bottlenecks.
• Implement data governance, security, and role-level security (RLS) to ensure compliance with enterprise data standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional teams, and data engineers to translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
• Work closely with Dynamics F&O functional teams to ensure accurate interpretation of financial and operational data.
• Establish and enforce best practices for Power BI development, data modeling, and deployment pipelines.
• Document data architecture, BI processes, semantic models, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior BI developers and analysts.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and solution design discussions to ensure timely project delivery.
• Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI development, including data modeling, DAX, and performance optimization.
• Strong experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) data models and reporting.
• Experience integrating F&O data through Data Lake, BYOD, Dataverse, or Azure-based data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data integration techniques.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise datasets and complex reporting environments.
• Expertise in Power BI dataset optimization, incremental refresh, and query performance tuning.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and data governance best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, or SQL-based data warehousing.
• Familiarity with Dynamics F&O entities, financial dimensions, and operational reporting structures.
• Experience implementing enterprise BI architectures using Microsoft Fabric or Azure data platform.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployments.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
• Strong focus on data quality, governance, and performance optimization.
