Technical Lead - Backend (FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Entra ID, and AWS)

We are looking for a PSE /Technical Lead to drive the BackEnd team of a new unified web platform and its first production module: a Data Quality Rules engine. The platform stack is centered on FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Entra ID, and AWS, with infrastructure managed through Terraform and CI/CD. The PSE will align backend and frontend contracts, review implementation quality, and guide delivery across authentication, RBAC, rules engine design, workflow automation, notifications, reporting, and AI services. This role aligns directly with the project’s documented ownership model.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and own the target architecture for a modular monolith platform built on FastAPI and React.
• Establish API contract standards, request/response conventions, pagination patterns, and error handling across modules.
• Implement solution design for Entra ID SSO, JWT validation, RBAC enforcement, and secure role mapping.
• Guide the design of the rules engine, including JSON-based rule schema, execution model, versioning, sandbox testing, and migration path from legacy SQL rules.
• Oversee backend architecture for workflows, audit trail, comments, notifications, SLA logic, exports, and background sync.
• Conduct code reviews across backend and frontend tracks and enforce engineering standards.
• De-risk key delivery items early, especially Entra + AWS auth flow, schema design, and legacy rule migration. The roadmap explicitly highlights these as major risks.
• Work with product and client stakeholders to turn discovery findings into implementation-ready technical designs.

Required skills

• 7+ years in software engineering, with strong experience in backend/platform architecture
• 2+ years in a lead, or PSE role
• Strong experience with Python and API-centric backend systems
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI or comparable modern Python web frameworks
• Strong experience designing systems with PostgreSQL • Experience integrating with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC patterns
• Experience with AWS, containerized deployments, and infrastructureas-code
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability, application security, and production readiness
• Experience defining system contracts and leading cross-functional technical delivery
• Should be comfortable using modern AI tools like claude and cursor and able to extract maximum productivity with them .

Preferred skills

• Experience designing configurable rules engines or workflow/statemachine systems
• Experience migrating legacy SQL/business logic into structured application services
• Familiarity with React/TypeScript frontend architecture
• Experience with AI platform services, prompt registries, API logging, and safe human-in-the-loop AI patterns
• Experience in data governance, auditability, and regulated enterprise environments
• Exposure to Prompy Engineering
