Software Engineer - JAVA (Level III) COSTA RICA - Remote

CONSULTFIZ LATAM, a fully owned subsidiary of Confiz LLC is looking for Engineer IV - Java in Costa Rica with at least 5+ years of years of professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack. Depending upon expertise, strong candidates may additionally be given further responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Backend Development:

    • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

    • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code under the guidance of senior developers.

    • Contribute to robust data processing and system integrations.

  • System Architecture:

    • Collaborate on building secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems that support enterprise-level applications.

    • Support the development and enhancement of backend architectures for handling large-scale data and user requests.

  • Database Management:

    • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) to develop and optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing solutions.

    • Assist in refining database schemas and query performance.

  • Kafka Event Streaming:

    • Contribute to the design and maintenance of Kafka-based event streaming architectures to enable real-time data processing between distributed systems.

    • Assist with troubleshooting and optimizing Kafka pipelines.

  • Continuous Integration and Deployment:

    • Learn to implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Github CI/CD.

    • Collaborate with the team to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.

  • Cloud Infrastructure:

    • Work with senior engineers to design and maintain AWS-based backend solutions using services such as S3, Lambda, and RDS.

    • Gain hands-on experience in building backend systems optimized for performance and scalability in cloud environments.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Perform initial rounds of code testing, debugging, and optimization.

    • Contribute to writing unit tests and integration tests to ensure high-quality software.

  • Production Support:

    • Provide day-to-day production support for frontend and backend applications and services, including issue resolution and root-cause analysis.

    • Monitor application health, performance, and availability and assist in incident response as needed.

    • Document recurring issues and propose solutions to improve stability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of professional software development experience.

    • Programming Skills:

      • Proficiency in Java and experience with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot.

    • Database Knowledge:

      • Familiarity with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and basic exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).

    • Event Streaming:

      • Understanding of event-driven architectures and basic experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, and topics.

    • Cloud Computing:

      • Exposure to AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, S3, RDS) or other cloud platforms.

    • Production Support:

      • Willingness to learn and assist in diagnosing and resolving production system issues.

      • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and proactively respond to incidents.

    • CI/CD and Deployment:

      • Experience or awareness of CI/CD tools, such as GitLab or Github CI/CD and automated testing/deployment pipelines.

    • Soft Skills:

      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

      • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.

      • Willingness to learn and grow under mentorship while working in a dynamic environment.

     

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
